Environmental Impact

The very nature of our tours are low environmental impact. We try to further increase our contribution to looking after the environment by following Best Practice Minimal Environmental Impact Practices, conducting an Environmental Mapping and Conservation Program and by encouraging as many people as we can to look after the amazing environment that we have.

By touring with us, you are in fact having a lower impact than you would on other types of holiday or travel in which you may embark. Please consider your impact on; the environment and the local community when you choose your holiday activities.

It is possible for you to maintain a low carbon footprint and have a positive impact on community when travelling (even overseas). Please consider your options responsibly. For example:

1. Look for operators with this symbol (or similar Ecotourism Australia Accreditation) These operators are bound to ethical practices; by looking after the environment in which they operate and contributing to the local community .

Advanced Ecotourism - Australia's leading and most innovative ecotourism products, providing an opportunity to learn about the environment with an operator who is commited to achieving its best practice when using resources wisely, contributing to the conservation of the environment and helping local communities. www.ecotourism.org.au

2. You can offset some or all of your carbon emmissions. There are a number of reputable programs with which to do this.
Here is one suggestion: www.carbonneutral.com.au/

You can calculate your carbon emmissions and/or the value to offset them with an Emmission Calculator

3. Plan for Long-slow good quality touring. Avoid trying to travel long distances, too many times in too short a time. Stop and smell the roses, talk to locals, really get to know your destination and experience hands on contact with natural and cultural surroundings.

4. Participate in tours or activities which have a 'Conservation' element such as a hands on involvement with weed eradication, bio-diversity mapping/counting or infrastucture development designed to protect an area.

All the best and we hope to see you one day.
